Drones for Social Justice III

This morning we undertook another Drones for Social Justice Action (our previous live tweets 1st action and 2nd action). Before we had relied on tip-offs from inside the immigration department or just luck to be able to locate stop and searches in time to make a difference.

Today instead we used data from the STOP and SEARCH2  Mobile App to forecast today’s STOP and SEARCH location. Well our forecast location and the time correctly. The border police in general seem to be pretty lazy in their planning of not so random stop and searches. Below is a graphic we used to plan today’s action:

stop and search locations2Below are the live tweets from today’s actions.

Who Tweet
Immigrant X    Just about ready to go with our action this morning. We are waiting now at a metro station in the city where we expect a STOP and SEARCH
Immigrant X    These stop and searches are conducted by the border police and target undocumented immigrants.
Immigrant X    This is part of our series of DRONES for SOCIAL JUSTICE actions we have been conducting over the last few months.
Immigrant X    But remember Immigrant X is faction.
Immigrant X    Immigrant X is our communication and plan for a better future
Immigrant X    We Blog, Tweet and use social media to push our ideas.
Immigrant X    It is what has happened, could happen, will happen or is happening now somewhere close or on the other side of the world.
Immigrant X    All you have to do to see Immigrant X is open your eyes and see those standing in the shadows and hear a whisper that injustice reigns.
Immigrant X    that lives are torn apart by the passive acceptance of those with their accidental citizenship in a western democracy
Immigrant X    We are in place and expecting the FENCE FUZZ or the Immigration police to turn up any moment.
Immigrant X    We’re waiting at the entrance of a metro station and expect there to be Stop and Search operation in a fee minutes by the immigration police
Immigrant X    This area is cinema and theatre area. Punters turn up late morning.
Immigrant X    Many of the cafes and restaurants in the area staffed by undocumented immigrants.
Immigrant X    The Fence Fuzz/Immigration police target people turning up to work using mass transit systems in this case the Metro.
Immigrant X    We have staked out this station previously and have mapped exits and have a basic plan for this operations.
Immigrant X    This week we have gone for the original helicopter we used in our first operation. Cheap and easy to manoeuvre.
Immigrant X    The Border Police target people looking “nervous” or “unsure” of themselves.
Immigrant X    This is language is used by the Border Police, but it really means there targets for Stop and Searches are people who look foreign.
Immigrant X    In our stop and search actions we want to empower people stopped by the Border Police.
Immigrant X    We want to tell them they do not have to answer any questions and can simply walk away.
Immigrant X    We will tell people being stopped by the Border Police that: 1. Immigration checks cannot be speculative.
Immigrant X    2.They cannot stop someone on the basis of race 3.Anyone can just walk away. There’s no evidence to detain if they don’t even know your name
Immigrant X    The following is a good link for your rights in different countries:http://www.irr.org.uk/news/migrants-and-stop-and-search-know-your-rights/ … …
Immigrant X    How we do what location the Border Police are targeting today?
Immigrant X    Two months ago we launched our STOP & SEARCH Mobile App: http://www.immigrantx.org/?page_id=553
Immigrant X    The Mobile app does the following: 1. Gives alerts on stop and search locations world wide. 2. Registers Stop and Searches
Immigrant X    The idea is simple we give alerts of registered stop and search locations world wide based on your alert settings.
Immigrant X    We vet and turn around the stop and search location within 3 minutes and buzz people near the location to get verification.
Immigrant X    We have tracked the stop and search locations for the last two months and have started to find some patterns.
Immigrant X    We’re pretty sure that in about 3 min the Immigration police will commence a stop and search at this Metro see image pic.twitter.com/MTecLWqW93
Immigrant X    We are using a toy helicopter controlled by a smartphone app.
Immigrant X    The helicopter has the small voice box from a children’s toy that we wiped and recorded messages telling people there rights when stopped.
Immigrant X    We have made the voice box larger so we can hover 1.5 metre above the Border Police and their target for stop and search.
Immigrant X    The recording we used was from app for the blind to read computer text and is a nice reassuring computer generated voice.
Immigrant X    Because the station will be fairly busy it will be difficult for the border police to see us controlling the helicopters.
Immigrant X    If the police arrive we will simply wipe the apps from our phones and leave by one of the 10 + exits.
Immigrant X    Just as expected the Immigration Police have arrive and are setting up the stop and search. @Immigrant_Z can you see @ImmigrantY
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z We can go ahead we have enough clearance if you control from the bench and I from platform 7.
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z The helicopter is off. No one saw me I am pretty sure. It is coming to you now it should be in range.
Immigrant X    Airborne pic.twitter.com/erMtMciCGM
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z About 10 meters in front of you at 10 O’clock.
Immigrant X    @immigrant_z The border policeman is stopping a woman as expected looks very much like racial profiling.
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z Bring it in 1m further.
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z Keep it in position. I crowd is gathering. The border is getting annoyed.
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z Take it up. He is trying to grab it.
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_z This has made the crowd laugh that the border policeman looks so impotent trying to catch a toy helicopter.
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z The person he stopped has walked off, good one.
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z Keep it higher you’re losing power.
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z Try and fly it to @ImmigrantY
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z ImmigrantY has got it. She flew it around the corner. Nice work @ImmigrantY
Immigrant X    2nd helicopter is coming your way @Immigrant_Z from @ImmigrantY location
Immigrant X    You are a bit low take it up closer to the ticket office. You are really pissing off the two border police at the entrance.
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_Z Still too low
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_z Good work they have given up on questioning their two racially profiled targets and are chasing the helicopter.
Immigrant X    The crowd gathered is really enjoying this. It will make an exit difficult now. Just land the helicopter on the roof of the cafeteria.
Immigrant X    @ImmigrantY @Immigrant_Z Yeah, I am pretty sure. I had it in a plastic bag just in case before the action.
Immigrant X    @Immigrant_z perfect landing. That will take them a good half to get to the helicopter.
Immigrant X    @ImmigrantY @Immigrant_Z Let’s get out of here and meet later at my place
Immigrant X    That’s our action for the day. Will post the tweets later on tonight.
Immigrant X    Immigrant X is our communication and plan for a better future
Immigrant X    We blog, tweet and use social media to push our ideas. Immigrant X is faction.
